Internship/Co-Op
The purpose of an internship/co-op is to provide you with the opportunity to gain practical experience in solving engineering problems of relevance. Typically, this will be accomplished by having you spend the summer and following semester or roughly seven months on your internship/co-op. During the assignment, you will work on an engineering-related problem, which has been judged by IMSE faculty to form the basis of an acceptable project. Upon completion of your co-op/internship you are expected to write and defend a technical report detailing your experience.
Internships are obtained in various industries with numerous industry partners. Additionally, on average graduates in the MIMSE program obtain full-time employment within three months of graduation. They receive an average salary of 70 – 80K in similar industries.
Location
IMSE students live across the US and work in different industries. Many times, students live together, sightsee, and build relationships with each other while completed their internship.
