Aishwarya Singhai

Student

Aishwarya Singhai is a final year student at IMSE and looking for full time opportunities starting May-24 as an Industrial Engineer. She completed her under graduation from India in Industrial and Production Engineering where through various internships across four companies: Tesla, Qorvo, Modelez and Pidilite; she realized she wanted to apply her knowledge and skill set in areas other than traditional manufacturing and operation roles. She found the perfect program at NCSU, where she joined in Fall-22. The course helped her in implementing her educational background in one of the fastest growing nations. The flexibility of the program allowed her to pursue two internships at Qorvo and Tesla during the summer and fall term respectively, helping to correlate the knowledge gained through courses and identifying the skill set required to excel in industry. The program helped to explore all the aspects of an industrial engineer and working as one is what she envisions for her in the long learn.

Her work was predominately to develop Discrete Event Simulation (DES) models in FlexSim for various lines to create scenarios to increase throughput and Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) by optimizing in-line buffer placement and performing sensitivity analysis. Singhai was also responsible to reduce the head count for rework by 64%, rebalance per-station cycle time by reducing individual work load by performing BasicMOST time study and creating work content of 32 stations which led to saving $ 2.1 million. During her time at Qorvo, while working with Test and Prototype Operations Team, she was responsible for establishing KPI’s for equipment utilized by GSO Test Operations by identifying equipment usage gaps, potential idling of equipment, and bottlenecks to streamline process and increase machine utilization by 2% using PowerBI. Singhai also got the chance to review the current method to track spares inventory of assets, created a new method on CMMS for efficient inventory management and systematized data collection, created a real time dashboard to track inventory in PowerBI.
